|
The first time in ABA’s 33 year history, an ABA National Event was held in Alabama the weekend of May14-16 at Circle City BMX in Dothan. The Dothan Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and ABA stepped up with cash incentives to tracks that had the most riders present. "Working with the Dothan Area CVB and Circle City BMX made our first experience in Alabama one to remember," stated ABA Chief Executive Officer, B.A. Anderson. "While we continue to see growth in the sport of BMX racing around the United States and the World, it is the growth of the sport in the United States and Canada that the ABA continues to focus on."
"We have been seeing lots of interest in the formulation of new tracks in the eastern part of the United States and are excited about what the ABA has to offer." "The incentives offered for the Wiregrass Nationals helped to attract participants to their City and is an excellent model for other host cities to follow," he continued.
The Wiregrass Nationals had riders in attendance from 28 states and 54 different tracks. All told, there were fourteen (14) different tracks represented by ten (10) or more riders.
